DOUBT: A PARABLE Featuring the Montana Repertory Theatre
The theater’s 2012 Red Carpet Series kicks off in February with the critically-acclaimed stage production of Doubt: A Parable by the Montana Repertory Theatre. Doubt was written in 2004 by John Patrick Stanley and quickly won accolades in the theater world; including a 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and a Tony Award for Best Play. Doubt was adapted for film in 2008 starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman and was nominated for five Academy Awards. The play is set in a fictional Bronx Catholic school in 1964 in which a progressive parish priest and a rigidly conservative nun become at odds over perceptions of inappropriate behavior with a student.
The Orpheum Theatre presents Doubt: A Parable on Sunday, February 19 for a 3:00 pm matinee.
Tickets are $20, $30 and $35. All students college age and younger are $15 (except Mezzanine). Discounts are available for subscription packages of 3 or more Red Carpet Series shows and for groups of 10 or more. Call the Orpheum Theatre box office at 309-342-2299 or stop by 250 East Main Street in Galesburg for personalized service and seat selection.
ORPHEUM THEATRE LIGHTING REPLACEMENT PROJECT
The Orpheum Theatre will be undergoing a full lighting efficiency upgrade project during January and February. This project will not only make the theater more energy efficient but will reduce material replacement expenses by replacing incandescent bulbs with longer lasting LED bulbs. In addition, this project will replace all of the theater's out-dated and inefficient theatrical lighting with modern, up-to-date equipment.
The $125,000 project is fully underwritten through contributed income including a $100,000 federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant.
